therapy, but take it outside
For some people, talking comes a little easier when you’re walking side by side.
Walk Therapy is a 50-minute therapy session that happens while you and your therapist walk together outdoors. You can talk, problem-solve, work through emotions, practice coping strategies, or incorporate mindfulness and somatic work—we’ve just traded the therapy room for one of Edmonton’s beautiful trails. And no, you don’t need to be particularly athletic. This is therapy with a walk, not a workout.
how does it work?
Your first session takes place in our Edmonton office so your therapist can get to know you, complete an intake, and make sure Walk Therapy is a good fit. After that, you can book during designated Walk Therapy times. We currently meet in Mill Creek Ravine near 76 Avenue and walk north through the trail system. We’ll send you the exact meeting point before your appointment.
Because we’re outside in a public space, there are some additional privacy considerations that your therapist will discuss with you before your first walk.
what if the weather is terrible?
We live in Edmonton, so we've definitely planned for this.
Walk therapy is weather-dependent. When the forecast makes it unsafe or impractical to meet outside, your session can be moved to the office or online, or rescheduled when appropriate.
Want to give it a try?
You don't have to commit to doing every session outside. Walk therapy can simply be anothe roption available to you and your therapist when it feels lke a good fit.
