Meet alexandra

Ever since I stumbled into the world of psychology and therapy during my pre-teen years, I've been absolutely enchanted by the magic of it all. Seriously, I thought therapists had secret spells or something. Turns out, it's not all hocus-pocus, but it's darn close. Therapy has this incredible power to transform lives, like discovering the cheat codes to your own game of life. I've been on this journey for a while now, helping folks navigate the wild and wonderful terrain of their minds.

I'm not your typical therapist. Why? As a proud member of the ADHD club, for the longest time, I felt like I was living in a world that didn't quite get me. I used to think my brain was a bit like that one odd sock you can never find the match for in the laundry. But here's the thing: I've gone on this quest of self-love and compassion, and I've discovered that being different doesn't mean you're broken. In fact, it's quite the opposite. It's like realizing that you have a superpower that everyone else just hasn't figured out yet.

In my therapist's toolkit, you'll find a couple of specialties that truly light up my heart. First off, I've honed my skills working with the neurodivergent crowd, thanks to an internship that specialized in just that; ADHD, Autism and Dyslexia. Understanding the beautiful tapestry of different minds and helping people navigate their unique cognitive landscapes is my jam. Plus, I'm all about championing the transgender community. Gender identity is a deeply personal journey, and I'm here to provide a safe space for exploration, support, and empowerment. So, whether you're neurodivergent, transgender, or simply someone looking to embark on a path of self-discovery and growth, you've found a therapist who's ready to roll up her sleeves and dive into the wonderful complexities of your world.

In my therapeutic approach, I aim to create a comfortable and client-centered environment that's accessible to everyone. We'll draw from elements of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to examine and reshape unhelpful thought patterns that may be holding you back. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) will come into play to help you embrace your emotions and values, guiding you toward meaningful life changes. Self-compassion will be a cornerstone, teaching you to treat yourself with kindness and understanding, just as you would a dear friend. And we'll work on building a strong and authentic sense of self, because knowing and accepting who you are is key. It's all about you and your unique journey, and I'm here to provide the support and tools you need to thrive.

So, if you're ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and a few good laughs along the way, you're in the right place. Let's work some therapy magic together!

The greatest piece of advice I've received:

The greatest piece of advice I've ever received is this: "Meet people where they are." It's a reminder that each person who walks into my office is on their own unique path, facing their own individual struggles and triumphs. It's about understanding that everyone's journey is different, and what might work for one person may not work for another. By meeting my clients where they are in their lives, emotions, and experiences, I can provide them with the support, guidance, and tools they need to move forward on their own terms. It's a simple yet profound principle that shapes my therapeutic approach, emphasizing empathy, flexibility, and a deep respect for each person's unique narrative.

Something on my bucket list:

It is my personal goal to travel to as many countries as I possibly can before I leave this earth. Also, to eat as much delicious food as I can in each of these countries along the way. I'm a big fan of mindful travelling, it's the best way to do it.

My top 3 values:

Authenticity

Resilience

Compassion

If I was an animal I'd be...

I’d be a dog, because they are nothing but honest and authentic, and they always live in the moment.

I have a day totally to myself, with no obligations. Where would you find me?

You’d first find me at the gym in the morning, taking my sweet time and ending in the sauna. Then  I’d be at the dog park with my pup in the afternoon, coffee in hand. In the evening, you’d find me at the theatre watching the latest movie (anything but horror) or at home reading fiction books until I fall asleep.

Besides my work, a special skill of mine:

knowledge of military history, specifically WW2 era. I didn’t choose my special interests as an ADHD woman, they chose me. But I’ll talk your ear off about military history if you let me!

My Myers-Briggs personality type:

INFJ-T: The Advocate
